Are you living in fight/flight mode?

I feel like I have for a very long time. In a constant state of heightened awareness - wired but oh so tired. My phone beeps, it rings, and those god-awful red notification dots are just yearning to be clicked on. There are emails and texts and phone calls and the next job. I'm getting snacks and cooking dinner, I'm grocery shopping, there's washing and the gym and what about a quick holiday to leave me just a little more exhausted than I was before?

Anxiety After Birth

The day my son was born was one of the most special, if not the most special day of my life. After the hard slog of my pregnancy, here was my little boy. So perfect and finally on the outside of me (yay!), safe in my arms. 

I cried with pure love and joy for the entire first week, and like any nervous first time parent I worried about all kinds of things..whether he was hungry or wet, did he have a sore tummy? Was he sleeping enough? Was I ever going to sleep more than 3 hours again?

Why stepping back, is as hard as leaning in

I finished high school, and from 2004 onwards I worked full-time. After working my way up I eventually found my place as a Personal Assistant, and it was a job I both loved and loathed. 

I loved the money, but I hated the early mornings. I liked most of the people I worked with, but I hated that my day was so structured. I had no freedom, I wanted to be my own boss, and I spent hours dreaming about all of the ways I could escape the humdrum of full-time work.
